What is Earth Hour?

Earth Hour is one hour every year when people around the world turn off their lights to show others that they care about the Earth and want to help solve the problem of climate change.

Earth Hour was started by the World Wildlife Fund in Sydney, Australia, in 2007. The next year many other cities and countries followed Sydney's example and Earth Hour became a worldwide event.

Earth Hour usually held on the last Saturday of March. This year, however, it is March 23, 2013, from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m.
